What We Do
A senior tax manager is responsible for the management and documentation of compliance. They look into tax research and planning and make sure they can properly advise their clients. They also stay up to date with new laws and create new tax strategies. They also act as a mentor for tax associates, helping them to develop revenue and people. Finally, they are responsible for providing guidance on unusual tax documents.
Work Environment
Senior tax managers tend to work in offices during regular business hours. However, overtime is common, particularly between January and April, which is tax filing season.
How to Become
In order to become a senior tax manager, you should first become an accountant. Additionally, you must learn as much as possible about tax laws.
Training & Certification Requirements
Usually, you will have to hold a master’s degree in a field such as finance to become a senior tax manager. You must also be a certified public accountant. Ten years’ working experience is generally also required.
