What We Do
As a technical analyst, you will look at the platforms and infrastructure of your organization to see whether or not they are useful and feasible. Furthermore, you will update and maintain hardware, software and relevant training materials. You will also create and deliver reports and summaries on operations, discussing any technical difficulties and problems you came across. Finally, you will be responsible for the communication of technical requirements for new projects.
Work Environment
Most technical analysts work in large companies. Their hours tend to be standard office hours. While they will do a lot of desk work, they must also spend a significant amount of time on their feet.
How to Become
You must have great interpersonal skills to become a technical analyst so you can deal with both internal and external communication. You must also show proficiency in tracking and monitoring and being able to analyze data, even if it comes from external sources. Finally, you must be able to train others.
Training & Certification Requirements
Generally speaking, a bachelor’s degree will be required in a field such as finance, accounting or computer science. Most employers also look for a number of years’ experience, although entry level workers can sometimes get to work. Furthermore, they must be trained in various common software packages.
