What We Do
As an IT project manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of beta development and release of products in line with the standards of quality assurance. You will also lead the test team to make sure their plans and efforts are efficient. Furthermore, you will responsible for creating strategies and action plans that show when everything has to be completed and how. Delivering on this plan will be done by a technical team operating under your supervision. Finally, you will focus on software life-cycle techniques.
Work Environment
Most IT project managers work in offices during regular business hours, although some overtime may be required. Frequent travel for training is also common.
How to Become
Becoming an IT project manager is about having both hard skills in IT and programming, and soft skills in management. You must be an excellent communicator, but also have the knowledge required to complete this type of work.
Training & Certification Requirements
You may be required to have project management certification for this position. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT is usually the required minimum. Furthermore, you will need many years of experience in leadership for this position.
