What We Do
Data analysts determine technical issues, collect data on customer requirements and write reports on all of this. They also look for new places to get data from, and how to improve existing methods of reporting, analyzing and collection. Essentially, their role is to be a bank of data knowledge to ensure their business can meet the needs of the customer.
Work Environment
As a data analyst, you have to always be ready to work for the improvement of your company. Because you will also be responsible for the collection of data, this may mean that you have to work in odd locations during unsocial hours.
How to Become
If you want to become a data analyst, you should be well-versed in various computer programs, particularly database programs. Furthermore, you must have excellent communication skills, speaking to people at all different levels.
Training & Certification Requirements
To become a data analyst, you must hold a bachelor’s degree as a minimum, although master’s are becoming more common. Choose a field such as computer science or information technology.
