What We Do
As a corporate controller, you will be responsible for supervising billing and budget preparation. You will also oversee asset management, investments, cash payments and other accounting activities. Furthermore, you will develop the operational functions and coordinate them, effectively managing the accounting department. Finally, you will make sure that all financial policies are adhered to and that reporting is accurate.
Work Environment
As a corporate controller, you can expect to work in an office, usually during standard business hours. However, some weekend work and other overtime work may be required.
How to Become
Corporate controllers have a strong background in both business and finance. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, most will start with an entry level position before working their way up after a number of years.
Training & Certification Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, finance or accounting is required. Many corporate controllers also have CPA status.
