What We Do
As a budget analyst, you will perform trend projections and analyses. You will also keep records on expenses for budgets and inventory balances. From this, you will prepare departmental budgets, basing these on their revenue, expenses and performance. You will also review how departments spend their money so that they are fully compliant and stick to the capital and operational limits. Finally, you will ensure budget policies are properly implemented and understood.
Work Environment
Generally speaking, budget analysts work in an office and follow regular business hours.
How to Become
To become a budget analyst, you must properly grasp the various financial principles. You must also be able to actually implement these principles, as that is one of the main responsibilities of your job.
Training & Certification Requirements
As a budget analyst you need to have a strong accounting and finance background. Usually, this is obtained by education and experience alike. While a bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement, most companies now look for those who hold a master’s degree.
